Here is a story about the records from Captain himself.
"A funny thing happened to me what must be absolutely AGES ago now.....
One minute I was causing chaos up and down the country as guitarist of the Damned punk rock ensemble and then all of a sudden I found myself having solo success with a wacky tune from a musical - and No1 in the charts no less. Needless to say I ran with it.... making albums and singles and having the time of my life while doing it!
Many years later most people only know me for 'Happy Talk' - the biggie, and with the albums being unavailable for 25 years or so I was losing hope of them ever seeing the light of day again.
Until recently, when those nice people at Cherry Red Records called me n saying they'd like to reissue them, while refreshing the sound quality along the way..... and would I like to help with the sleeve and choice of extra tracks, etc.
Needless to say, I was thrilled and reckon they've turned out absolutely spiffing - so I am proud to announce (cue trumpet fanfare...) that I will be adding them to the Sensible merch page so that the more discerning of you music lovers out there can hear the likes of 'Martha The Mouth', 'Sir Donald's Son' and 'Secrets' in their full uncompressed audio glory.
Sure the albums are totally 80s but pop music from that decade really does have a kind of airy purity to it and the Prophet 5, Oberheim OBX and Jupiter 6 certainly stand out in the mix if there's any classic synth buffs interested in that kinda thing.
I've also procured a small supply of the Dr Spacetoad album, an old CD single (Missing The Boat) and the latest Damned release 'So, Who's Paranoid' too and can sign them If required. Just say what sort of thing you'd like me to write and I'll do my best to oblige.
